The Importance Of Your Employees (from the book "Good To Great" by, Jim Collins):
Any of you who follow my daily posts or have read my book know the emphasis I place on the quality of our employees. To me there's not a single thing more important in your pet service than your employees. Since the beginning of Downtown Pets I strived to have the very best dog walkers around but I didn't always have great dog walkers...why? Because sometimes I would accept a little less than what I wanted. But now? I accept nothing less than the high standard we teach here and I'd rather figure out how to cover a route than ever hire someone again who doesn't meet our high standards. This leads me to the following passage from Jim Collins' "Good To Great":
" Those who build great companies understand that the ultimate throttle on growth for any great company is not markets, or technology, or competitions, or products. It is one things above all others: the ability to keep and get enough of the right people."
