Independent Contractors and their licensing

    I currently have 3 people working as independent contractors for my business.  I pay their insurance; but not one of them are licensed.  I spoke with my CPA and as long as I give them all a 1099 form at the beginning of the new year, what they do with their taxes is their business.  However, don't my I.C.'s need to be licensed to go into a client's home.  Here I am paying their insurance and they don't want to pay $30 for a business license.  HELP me on this issue, please!!

    Hi Paula! Thanks for posting and just to clarify are you saying your ic's are not covered by a liability bond presently in case they damage or rob something and you're wondering if it's your or their responsibility to get licensed? Could you clarify please? Thanks!
